Italian press manufacturer Omet celebrated its 50th anniversary by taking a heartfelt look back at its accomplishments and gearing up for what it says will be an even more successful 50 years to come. The Lecco-based company invited customers, members of the community and media to celebrate “50 Years of Passion and Excellence” on Lake Como during the weekend of May 10-11.

On Friday, May 10, the company hosted an event at Villa Cipressi in Varenna to mark the release of a book that gives a close look at the company’s history, honors its founder, Angelo Bartesaghi (who passed away in 2011), and highlights the company’s major achievements. Members of the local community, family, and friends gathered to share stories of Omet’s impact on the community, express pride in its international reach, and praise its successful expansion in spite of significant global economic hardships.  

Antonio Bartesaghi, managing director of Omet (and son of Angelo), introduced the book by saying, “On the day Omet opened, it was -11 degrees. Someone must have wanted to make my father understand that starting a business is a tough thing.” He added, “It is similar to this morning, which was cold and rainy. Now it is beautiful, and hopefully that means good things for Omet’s future.”

The following morning, a crowd of nearly 200 gathered at the company headquarters to take a tour of the facility, view a professionally-made video about the company’s milestones, growth, and future plans, and observe a demonstration of the new XFlex X6, which was equipped with offset sleeve groups.

The Bartesaghi family again honored and paid homage to its founder, Angelo. Looking out into the crowd, Antonio said, “This room has not only machines in it, but the passion of my father and all that he taught us. My father is the one who made all of this, and I believe that he is here with us today.” 

Following the visit to the company headquarters, attendees were treated to a boat ride on Lake Como. Leaving from Lecco, the boat docked in Bellagio and guests were given a tour of the quaint village. Following the tour, guests were again taken by boat to Como, where a Gala dinner was held at Villa Olmo.

Following the event, the company released a statement, saying, “The management of Omet and the Calcagni families would like to thank all the guests for sharing this special celebration and invite them not to miss the next appointments with Omet, especially Labelexpo Europe 2013.”
